 Many people come to therapy with insight into their history, relationships, and patterns, yet their bodies continue to respond with anxiety, overwhelm, shutdown, or chronic tension. 

Trauma lives in the nervous system, not just the memory.
Somatic Therapy is a body based approach.

When stress or trauma overwhelms the system, protective responses can remain active below conscious thought and cannot be resolved through insight, willpower or the mind.

How you learned to cope
is a brilliant adaptive response,
not a personal failure.

The nervous system remembers. When experiences are overwhelming, prolonged, or unsupported, the nervous system may remain stuck in a fight, flight, or freeze response and manifest in unsupportive patterns, behaviours, reactions or emotions.

These patterns may show up as anxiety, chronic stress, hypervigilance, fatigue, pain, depression, dissociation, or difficulty with emotional regulation. Somatic Experiencing and Breath Therapy works at this physiological level to support change when working on the mental level might not be enough.

When patterns of flight, fight or freeze persist - there is a solution.

By using a body-centered approach, somatic therapies re-instate connections between the many components of mind and body, such as survival and nervous system responses, belief systems, mental constructs and emotional patterns.  Through the cultivation of inner awareness, you will learn to notice somatic indicators of breath, sensation, patterns and more, thereby increasing capacity to resolve past stresses with lasting change.       

Somatic and Breath Therapy practices empower you to cultivate a deeper mind-body connection fostering emotional balance, resilience, and a greater sense of inner peace.

Sessions unfold gradually and at a pace guided by your system. Over time, this process builds capacity, supporting emotional regulation, reduced stress responses, and greater ease in daily life.





 'Soma' is the Greek word for 'body'.  Somatic Therapy places the focus on physiology, rather than solely the mind.
